Vocational Teacher for the Child and Leisure Program

Idrottsgymnasiet Örebro, part of Virginska Gymnasiet, is looking for a driven and open-minded vocational teacher for the Child and Leisure Program, primarily focused on the direction of Educational and Social Work, but preferably with competencies in Leisure and Health as well. We are looking for someone who is passionate about sports and wants to help our students combine studies with sports interests or sports careers.

About the position

The position includes teaching vocational subjects for all three years of the Child and Leisure Program. Many of the courses/subjects are partially located at APL, and as a vocational teacher, you are expected to collaborate and visit APL locations regularly. We also place great importance on mentorship, which means you are expected to dedicate time and engagement to your mentee students.

• plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in the subjects you are qualified to teach
• use methods and approaches that lead to the best possible goal fulfillment
• exercise mentorship/perform class leader tasks
• support students' social development and upbringing
• create a good learning environment
• stay updated on current research within your field
• know and follow the applicable laws, policies, and routines of the organization
• work and document in the operational systems available

About the workplace

Virginska Gymnasiet is one of four high schools in Örebro. The school consists of both national programs, a national gymnasium for the deaf and hard of hearing, introductory programs, and adapted upper secondary school. Idrottsgymnasiet is the municipality's most successful school operation based on students' goal fulfillment, well-being, and the number of applicants. The operation consists of four high school programs and about fifteen different sports options. The entire Virginska has about 1400 students, of which IDGY has about 700 students. The number of staff at IDGY is about 50.

Qualifications

You are self-sufficient in your work, and the role also requires you to plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. You master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students and other staff, as well as document what the organization requires in writing.

Requirements:

• licensed vocational teacher for the Child and Leisure Program, for example, with subjects in Pedagogy, Special Education, and Social Work

Meritorious:

• experience working in preschool and leisure activities
